Join us for the Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS) Presential Course, taking place from October 1 to 4, 2024, in the beautiful coastal town of Nazaré, Portugal. Morefish, Food4Sustainability CoLab and BGI-Building Global Innovators developed this intensive, face-to-face training session that will take place in Nazaré from October 1st to 4th.  This immersive, hands-on course is designed to provide professionals in aquaculture and related fields with the knowledge and tools to optimize production using cutting-edge RAS technology.

Overview

The RAS course aims to enhance participants' understanding and skills in operating and managing recirculating aquaculture systems. With a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical applications, the course will cover key aspects of RAS, including water quality management, fish welfare, and system dimensioning. The training will be conducted over 3.5 days, culminating in a site visit to a local RAS unit, with an optional extra field visit.

Day 3

RAS Design: Learn how to dimension a RAS facility, focusing on water consumption, oxygen, CO2, and biofilters.
Practical Exercises: Apply your knowledge by designing your own RAS facility.
Sustainability Practices: Discuss environmental management, sludge management, and circular economy in aquaponics.

Day 4

Production Planning: Develop a production plan using Excel and biological principles.
Practical Application: Prepare and refine your production plan.
Site Visit: Tour a RAS unit at Ampliqua to see real-world applications.
